Creative Hooligan (Video + Design)

Location: Pittsburgh, PA Type: Full Time Min. Experience: 3 years designing in Adobe with an excellent, diverse portfolio to prove it.

The Role
Thread is building a team of creatives to tell the Thread story. For this role we’re looking for someone that loves to edit video and is fluent in Adobe Creative Suite. The ideal candidate would be equally comfortable in Premier, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and everything in-between. Like to work behind the camera, too? Even better.

This role is ideal for someone who obsesses over design and can produce exceptional work across different mediums. One week you might be designing a storefront for a global brand, the next you’ll be editing a video from our latest trip to Haiti, designing packaging for our fabric orders, pitch decks for sales, and much more.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own video and graphic design projects. Make them cool, consistent, and engaging every time.
  • Develop a palpable Thread ‘style’ we can hone over time.
  • Join ‘braintrust’ meetings to contribute creative ideas for the team to work on together
  • Deliver projects on-time for Thread teams from our Brands and Shop to Social and PR.
  • Provide feedback to videographers and photographers working with Thread to make our shoots more productive every time.
  • Maintain workflow for video and design projects and organize video asset library.

Preferred Skills & Knowledge

  • Fluent in Adobe Creative Suite especially: Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, InDesign, After Effects with a hunger to continuously improve your skills.
  • Familiarity with maintaining YouTube, Vimeo, and other video platforms.
  • Impeccable time management skills. Seriously – you need the ability to juggle multiple design projects and priorities on day one.
  • Experience working in a creative agency or multi-disciplinary environment.

First Mile Operations Manager

Location: Haiti Type: Full Time Min. Experience: 1-3 years of experience in Operations, Plastics Recycling or Manufacturing

The First Mile Ops Manager – Haiti will be a detail-oriented, organized and motivated mover of product and ideas.  This person will work with existing and new Thread partners in and near Haiti, and the larger Thread Production & Materials and Impact teams, to deliver raw material (PET bottles and/or recycled PET) from Thread’s Haitian First Mile on time, on spec, at target cost, and in line with Thread’s values and brand.  This person will work closely with the Director of Production & Materials to develop the capacity and quality needed on the ground in Haiti to scale this raw material supply to meet Thread’s growing global textile supply chain needs.  

Key Responsibilities

Will include the following, but should be expected to evolve in sync with Thread’s business needs and the candidate’s skill sets.

  • Achieve Thread’s rPET sourcing strategy in Haiti, guided by Director of Production & Materials.
  • Work directly with Thread recyclers, manufacturers, and collectors in Haiti to maintain and improve Thread sourcing.
  • Build the relationships needed to be successful in First Mile sourcing in Haiti.
  • Problem-solve and oversee vendor partnerships, inventory information, logistics, production schedules, and quality assurance and improvement to ensure successful fulfillment and delivery of Thread raw material on time, at cost, on spec.
  • Conduct cost & vendor agreement negotiations as needed.
  • Visit Thread First Mile sourcing sites regularly.
  • Manage international logistics as needed, including import/export of shipments and movement of materials, in coordination with Thread vendors and global logistics partner(s).
  • Work in coordination with existing (and expanding) Thread sourcing partners in Haiti, plus Thread production, materials, and impact teams to achieve company goals.
  • Grow and create your position to optimize your greatest strengths in conjunction with company needs and goals.

QC Materials Manager

Location: Pittsburgh, PA Type: Full Time Min. Experience: 2-5 years of experience in QC

At Thread, delivering high-quality textile products is a top priority.  As Thread continues to grow, multiplying supply chains, product, customers, and volumes produced, this QC Materials Manager will lead continued development and continuous improvement of Thread’s quality assurance and control program from Ground to GoodTM.  This manager will help set product QC standards and manage the achievement of those standards through ongoing QC program management at every level of Thread production.  This manager will interact daily with Thread’s Production Managers and third-party manufacturing partners to ensure all products manufactured meet or exceed customer specifications. This manager will maintain internal organization of Thread’s physical product samples, corresponding quality specs, and testing results for each step of Thread’s supply chains. This person will organize, inspire, and manage Threadquarters’ physical Material Library and SKU system, facilitate third-party testing of Thread materials, log results, and advise product development and quality management accordingly.  Thread will look to this manager to lead systematic QA/QC programmatic development on a global platform.  

Associated products and Thread supply chain steps include: recycled plastics, staple fibers, continuous filament, spun yarns, and resulting fabrics.  

This position requires an education in textile science and prefers experience in product development or product life cycle management.  This manager should be detail oriented, resourceful, systematic, a strong communicator, and love learning.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define Thread product quality specifications in partnership with third-party manufacturing partners during product development and product commercialization stages
  • Advise quality management across all levels of Thread textile production by designing and advising QA/QC program standards and requirements per product and offering solutions to anticipated challenges
  • Routinely evaluate, assess, and make recommendations for continuous quality improvement within Thread’s global supply chains
  • Develop a more proactive and measurable system to anticipate quality challenges, monitor product development, and encourage success prior to customer release
  • Develop and maintain a systematic quality issue and solution tracking system
  • Consistently meet standards
  • Maintain Thread’s quality data system
  • Maintain Thread’s physical Materials Library of product samples
  • Answer quality and product spec questions within Thread’s teams and as needed with customers
  • Further, educate Thread teams in textile science and QA/QC product management
